Integrated Renewable Energy Hubs

POWERCHINA is developing integrated renewable energy hubs in Egypt by combining large-scale wind generation, energy storage infrastructure and local manufacturing. Its portfolio includes more than 1.8 GW of wind projects, including the operational 500 MW Amunet Gulf of Suez Wind Project and two facilities currently under construction. The company is also constructing Sungrow’s 50,000-square-meter energy storage manufacturing facility in Ain Sokhna, which is expected to become its first battery storage production base in the Middle East and Africa.

The combined approach extends POWERCHINA’s role beyond individual renewable projects toward a broader regional energy ecosystem. Local battery manufacturing could shorten supply chains while supporting future storage deployment alongside expanding wind capacity. The strategy also creates opportunities for Egyptian suppliers, contractors and skilled workers, potentially strengthening POWERCHINA’s regional position as demand for renewable generation and grid storage increases.
