Wind-Battery Energy Projects

CIP Has Acquired Australia's Gawara Baya Wind Farm

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has acquired the Gawara Baya Wind Farm on behalf of its flagship fund, securing an AUD 1.7 billion facility to bring the North Queensland hybrid project online by 2030. The project combines a 408 MW onshore wind farm with 104 MW of battery energy storage, enabling it to supply clean power to up to 240,000 Australian homes.

The 68-turbine project secured long-term energy offtake agreements with Stanwell and Smart Energy, along with participation in Australia's Capacity Investment Scheme. The project is expected to inject more than AUD 200 million into the regional Queensland economy and create up to 500 direct and indirect jobs.

Gawara Baya illustrates how pairing wind generation with large-scale storage can deliver stable, dispatchable clean power.
