CPV Renewable Power Has Began Operating on Former Coal Mine Land

CPV Renewable Power and Harrison Street Asset Management began commercial operations at CPV Rogue's Wind, a 114 MW brownfield wind project built across more than 6,000 acres of former coal mine land in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. The $300 million project marks CPV's third operating facility in the county, joining its existing natural gas and solar projects, and will generate enough electricity to power approximately 32,000 households.
The wind farm operates alongside Rock Run Recreation Area, an active ATV park with more than 140 miles of trails, allowing riders to reach the base of the turbines. Nineteen Vestas V-162 turbines were transported more than 260 miles from port to site, while CPV secured tax equity financing through U.S. Bank to support the project's development.
CPV Rogue's Wind shows how repurposing brownfield sites for renewable generation can add grid capacity while creating lasting economic value for surrounding communities.
