ComEd energized two new substations with 345kV transmission in LaSalle and Woodford counties, enabling grid interconnection for up to 550MW of new wind generation from the future Osagrove Flats and Panther Grove projects, which are scheduled to come online in late 2026 and early 2027. The new capacity is expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 264,000 homes annually.

Completed more than four months ahead of schedule, the project involved more than 113,000 hours of ComEd labor and included the installation of 16 new transmission towers, more than 58 miles of fiber and nearly half a mile of new conductor.

ComEd shows how utilities are expanding transmission infrastructure to connect new renewable energy projects and strengthen grid capacity as electricity demand continues to grow.
