Onshore Wind Energy Acquisitions
Octopus Energy Invested €584M in Its 321MW of Onshore Wind
Adam Harrie — May 11, 2026Octopus Energy Generation invested €584 million to acquire 321MW of onshore wind capacity across 17 sites in France, Germany and Poland, bringing the company’s European portfolio to 67 onshore wind farms. The European onshore wind investment includes 143.5MW across 10 French sites, 102.5MW across four German sites and 75MW from three operational wind farms in northern Poland, with the latter also providing access to a pipeline of future renewable energy projects.
Combined, the newly acquired sites are expected to generate enough clean electricity to power more than 250,000 homes annually.
As European countries accelerate efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels amid energy security concerns and volatile gas prices, Octopus Energy Generation demonstrates how expanding across multiple renewable markets can create a diversified wind portfolio at the scale needed to support the continent’s long-term energy transition.
