Koloma Expands Zero-Emission Hydrogen Exploration in the Philippines
Mursal Rahman — July 23, 2026Natural hydrogen exploration is gaining momentum as Koloma expands its search for naturally occurring hydrogen with a new exploration license in western Zambales Province, Philippines. The agreement gives the company exclusive exploration rights under Service Contract 92, adding to two existing contracts in Central Luzon and bringing its total exploration area in the country to more than 1,600 square miles. Koloma is using proprietary geological data and advanced exploration methods to identify commercially viable natural hydrogen resources that could serve as a domestic source of clean energy.
The project highlights the growing interest in naturally occurring hydrogen as a potential zero-emission fuel that could complement renewable energy systems. If commercially viable deposits are discovered, natural hydrogen could reduce dependence on imported fuels while supporting cleaner electricity generation and industrial operations. For Koloma, expanding its exploration portfolio strengthens its leadership in an emerging energy sector and positions the company to capitalize on future demand for low-carbon energy resources.
