Localized Battery Manufacturing

Sungrow Builds 10 GWh Energy Storage Capacity in Egypt

Sungrow is expanding localized battery manufacturing with a new energy storage facility in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone. Planned to reach 10 GWh of annual production capacity, the facility will manufacture battery energy storage systems closer to renewable energy projects across Egypt and the broader region. Initial production will support the Sustainable Energy Valley project in Minya Governorate, with Sungrow supplying 4 GWh of storage systems. The company has also supported the Abydos Phase II project with 1.2 GW of solar capacity and 720 MWh of storage.

Local production could shorten equipment delivery times and strengthen regional supply chains as solar and storage deployment increases. The facility also gives Sungrow a manufacturing base for serving growing Middle Eastern and African markets while supporting local suppliers and workforce development. This approach could help Egypt establish itself as a regional renewable energy manufacturing hub.
