The Exelon Foundation expanded its Exelon 2c2i climate investment portfolio, now in its seventh year of supporting early-stage companies developing practical climate and energy innovations. Public Grid, one of the portfolio companies, integrates utility enrollment and energy savings initiatives directly into the leasing process for multifamily housing. It partners with property platforms managing more than 500,000 housing units to connect residents with community solar, demand response and efficiency programs.

Buckstop takes a different approach, operating an asset valuation and urban mining platform that identifies opportunities to recover and recycle valuable materials embedded in energy and industrial equipment.

Exelon's continued investment through 2c2i signals that utilities are increasingly backing startups addressing both customer-facing energy access and behind-the-scenes resource circularity to build a more sustainable energy system.
