Indigenous-Led Wind Partnerships
Saulteau First Nations and EDF Secured a 30-Year Wind Power Deal
Adam Harrie — June 20, 2026Saulteau First Nations and EDF Power Solutions signed a 30-year electricity purchase agreement with BC Hydro for the 200.6MW Taylor South Indigenous-led wind energy project, expanding their existing partnership in B.C.'s Peace River Region. Saulteau First Nations holds a 51% economic interest in the project, which is expected to provide enough power for 60,000 homes by 2032.
The roughly $650 million investment will direct more than $150 million to local development and construction, creating more than 250 jobs throughout the project's lifecycle. Taylor South was one of four clean energy projects selected through BC Hydro's 2025 Call for Power, which aims to meet the province's growing demand for affordable, reliable electricity.
Taylor South shows how equity-based clean energy models can deliver both economic opportunity and grid-scale renewable capacity.
