Theme Park Floating Solar
D3Energy has deployed theme park floating solar at Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, integrating renewable power with battery storage and electric transportation. The 1.4 MW floating photovoltaic array forms part of three on-site solar installations totaling 3.7 MW, which are expected to generate more than 6.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
Electricity from the floating array supports Universal's electric bus fleet, with energy stored in batteries during the day and used for nighttime charging. The system uses Ciel & Terre's Hydrelio technology and generates solar power on an existing body of water, avoiding the need to dedicate additional land to the installation.
For entertainment destinations and other large properties, the project demonstrates how underused water surfaces can become energy-generating infrastructure. For D3Energy, another high-profile Universal installation strengthens its position in the U.S. floating solar market while demonstrating the technology's potential for commercial-scale energy and transportation applications.
