Varhad Capital and Velocys have partnered to advance biomass fuel projects in India, with a focus on producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from agricultural residues. This collaboration emphasizes environmentally responsible fuel production by converting crop waste into low-carbon energy, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and minimizing open-field burning, a major source of air pollution.
The initiative integrates biomass gasification with Fischer-Tropsch technology to create a more efficient pathway for transforming organic waste into clean fuel. This process supports lower lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions while promoting circular resource use by repurposing agricultural byproducts.
The project also introduces a scalable production model designed to expand sustainable fuel output without significant additional land use.
