Solar Rebate Milestones

Comed's Distributed Generation Program Has Surpassed $350M in Payouts

ComEd's distributed generation program has surpassed $350 million in cumulative rebates and incentives, underscoring growing momentum in customer-owned renewable energy across northern Illinois. The utility awarded the Streamwood Park District more than $94,000 to support a rooftop solar installation at its Park Place Family Recreation Center. The program now supports 1.8 GW of distributed generation across ComEd's grid.

Streamwood's solar array, completed in late 2025, generates nearly 435,000 kWh annually, saving the district more than $50,000 per year and delivering an anticipated $1 million return on investment over its 20-year lifespan.

As municipalities seek affordable paths to clean energy adoption, ComEd's rebate program shows how sustained utility incentives can make solar investment a genuinely accessible, long-term financial win for local communities and public facilities.
