According to the announcement, the collaboration will focus on training programs designed to expand technical capabilities in installation, maintenance and system design. The initiative is expected to support India’s ongoing rooftop solar targets by improving the availability of skilled workers who can meet rising demand across residential, commercial and industrial segments. Deakin University will contribute academic expertise and curriculum development, while the Smart Energy Council will provide industry alignment and sector specific insights.
The partnership also intends to enhance knowledge exchange between Australia and India by integrating best practices from both markets. Training modules will incorporate practical learning, industry standards and emerging technologies relevant to distributed solar deployment. The organizations noted that workforce development remains a critical factor in accelerating rooftop solar adoption, particularly as India expands its renewable energy capacity.
