NextEnergy Capital completed the acquisition of a 107MW NextEnergy UK battery storage portfolio comprising three standalone operational assets: the 40MW Maldon, 28MW Basildon and 39MW Loudwater facilities. The deal increases NEUK I's total standalone battery energy storage system capacity to 165MW.

Located across southeast England near major demand centers and grid infrastructure, all three assets have long-term Capacity Market contracts and established operational relationships. The acquisition follows NEUK I's final close at £733 million in commitments. Since launch, the fund has built and acquired more than 1GW of renewable energy infrastructure across the UK.

NextEnergy said the deal diversifies investor cash flows while strengthening the fund's exposure to the growing energy storage sector. The acquisition highlights battery storage's increasingly important role in renewable energy portfolios by providing the flexibility needed to integrate higher levels of intermittent generation into the grid.
