Vertically Integrated Solar Manufacturing

Navitas Solar plans to invest $1.04 billion over five years across Gujarat and Maharashtra, expanding beyond its existing solar module operations into cells, wafers, ingots, battery storage and power generation. A 2.4 GW solar cell facility is already under development in Gujarat's Sisodara district, with the first phase, backed by roughly $125 million, targeted to begin operations by July 2027.

The expansion also includes a 5 GWh battery storage facility in Vadodara and two solar parks in Maharashtra totaling 225 MW, giving Navitas exposure across multiple stages of the clean energy value chain. The added storage capacity positions the company to support grid reliability as India integrates more variable solar and wind power.

Navitas's vertically integrated strategy signals that domestic manufacturers are positioning themselves to control more of the supply chain while building the storage infrastructure needed for a more flexible clean power system.
