Onsite Industrial Solar Systems

Convergent Powers Nouryon's Morris Plant with 2 MW of Solar

Convergent Energy and Power energized a 2 MW onsite solar system serving Nouryon's specialty chemicals facility in Morris, Illinois, developed under a long-term power purchase agreement. The project is Nouryon's first onsite solar power purchase agreement in the United States and delivers renewable electricity directly to the site's operations.

The system supports Nouryon's goal of reducing absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030, compared with a 2019 baseline, by increasing the share of electricity from renewable sources used at the plant. Convergent, a North American energy storage provider, developed and will operate the project.

As industrial companies pursue emissions targets, this project signals that onsite solar agreements can help manufacturers cut emissions while securing longer-term energy costs.
