Amazon Has Signed Germany's Largest Power Purchase Deal To Date

Amazon and Skyborn Renewables signed a 600MW power purchase agreement for carbon-free electricity from the Gennaker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea, marking the largest single PPA in Germany to date. The agreement provides Skyborn with the financial certainty to begin construction on what will become Germany's largest Baltic Sea wind farm, featuring 63 state-of-the-art 15MW turbines and a total capacity of up to 976.5MW.
Once operational in late 2028, Gennaker is expected to generate enough carbon-free electricity to power more than one million German households annually, supporting Germany's target of reaching 30GW of installed offshore wind capacity by 2030.
The agreement shows how long-term corporate renewable energy procurement is becoming a key driver of large-scale offshore wind development, helping bring major projects to market through private-sector demand.
