Carbon Removal Registries

Puro.earth Passes 2 Million Carbon Removal Certificates Issued

Puro.earth issued its two millionth CO₂ Removal Certificate (CORC), each representing a tonne of carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere, independently verified and durably stored. The second million took about 19 months, versus about five years for the first 500,000, and it now issues an average of more than 50,000 CORCs a month.

Every certificate requires storage of at least 100 years, and Puro.earth has certified more than 100 suppliers across eight methodologies. Biochar accounts for 49% of issuance and geologically stored carbon for 31%. More than 1 million CORCs have been retired by more than 900 buyers, and median issuance time is down 25%.

As the market matures, the milestone signals how verified delivery histories can help buyers commit to larger offtakes and investors back new capacity.
